6 questions about toner in a leased copier.
Can I use third-party toner in a leased copier?
That depends on your lease and your service agreement, because whoever supplies your toner sets the rules on it. Read both documents for anything about supplies. On a Printree lease, toner is already in your monthly payment, so there is nothing to save by buying it elsewhere. If you lease from us, ask us before you use supplies you didn't get from us.
Is toner included in a Printree lease?
Yes. Automatic toner delivery is included in every Printree lease, in the same $209-$349 monthly payment as the machine, service, parts and labor. That payment also includes 5,000 black-and-white and 500 colour pages a month. Paper is not included, so it is the one supply you buy yourself.
How much does copier toner cost if I buy it myself?
Business copier toner bought separately runs $60 to $250 per cartridge, according to printree.com/faq. A colour machine uses four cartridges, so a full colour set costs $240.00 to $1,000.00 out of pocket. On a Printree lease, that line is $0.00 extra, because toner is already in the monthly payment.
Will third-party toner lower my monthly lease payment?
No. Your Printree monthly payment is fixed for the term with 0% escalation, and toner is already in it. Buying third-party toner does not take anything off the $209-$349 you pay each month. It only adds a cost on top, because you would be paying for supplies the lease already covers.
What should I check in a lease quote about toner?
Check whether toner is in the monthly number before you compare quotes. At 5,000 pages a month, unbundled toner can add $100 or more monthly. As an example, a quote $60 a month lower that leaves out $100 of toner costs $40.00 more a month, or $120.00 more in the first quarter.
Does the monthly price go up during the lease?
No. Every Printree lease has 0% escalation on every term of 36, 48, 60 or 63 months, with $0 down. The payment you sign is the payment you make each month until the term ends. On a lease with the industry-norm 5-10% annual escalation, the payment would climb every year.
